The public records of the museum
The public records contain the continuous records of the museum’s operations from 1866 to the current period. There are two record groups: Nationalmuseum Sections and Administrative Body.
The Artists archive
The Artsits archive is accumulated over the years by museum staff and through acquisitions, gifts and donations. The holdings consists of documentation about artists, individual artworks and buildings. Correspondence and research work by art historians and museum staff. The Artists archive has material from the 18th century and on, divided into four collections you can look into here: the Biographical collection, the Correspondence collection, the Topographical collection and the Private archives.
The Documentation archive
The Documentation archive contains information about artworks in the painting and sculpture collections. It consists of book excerpts, correspondence and more.
Research work in the archives
The archives are with a few exceptions open for research. Finding aids and an inventory are available in the archives reading room, were documents can be studied and copied. Visits to the archives reading room are arranged through the archivist. Please address enquiries to:
