Art Library

The Art Library is a shared resource for Nationalmuseum and Moderna Museet. We are a reference library for everyone with an interest in art – curators and researchers and members of the public alike. You are welcome to pay us a visit.

The Art Library is one of Scandinavia’s largest specialist libraries on art and applied art. Reflecting the art collections and activities of Nationalmuseum and Moderna Museet, the material primarily covers the period from the Renaissance to the present day. A large part of the library’s collection comprises artist monographs, catalogues of art collections, and auction and exhibition catalogues.

Much of the collection is in storage, so access must be requested in advance.

Two libraries become one

On 1 July 2013, Stockholm will see the Photography Library at Moderna Museet and the Art Library at Nationalmuseum merge to create a single specialist library for art, photography and design. Read more.
