This autumn, Nationalmuseum presents a majestic exhibition about the art of governing through art. The three protagonists Napoleon, Charles John and Alexander were all skilled at using art to demonstrate legitimacy and to strengthen their position. This magnificent work published in conjunction with the exhibition presents new research about art and politics in the Napoleonic era. In this catalogue with plenty of illustrations and texts directed to the uninitiated reader as well as the educated, the reader will follow the historical characters reflected through the contemporary art.

The thematic articles have been written by Swedish, Russian and French art historians and historians. Additionally the catalogue contains genealogical trees and historical maps and about 400 depicted artefacts such as coffee cups, tiaras, costumes, portraits and porphyry urns. Will be published at the end of September.
