Do museums have the potential to change lives and strengthen communities? Nationalmuseum and the Museum of World Cultures are inviting to a public, interactive lecture with Jasper Visser.

In recent years, the focus on the social responsibilities of museums as well as the evidence for their potential impacthas increased considerably. One area of interest where museums can play a role is in strengthening communities and making new connections between people. What can museums and cultural heritage do to bring different groups insociety together, help migrants and hosts meet, and stimulate sustainable and peaceful communities?Building on over a decade of experience in community building, Jasper Visser will introduce the role museums can play to build sustainable communities. The lecture will be highly interactive and include some exercises to bring the topic of community development to life, as well as time to explore ideas and examples from the audience. If you want to, please bring your own experiences on bringing different groups of people together!

About the Speaker:

Jasper Visser is an international change agent and social and cultural innovator. He is a highlyexperienced facilitator, designs and manages audience engagement, co-creation and participation projects, with a focus on the cultural and heritage sectors and social institutions. Jasper is senior partner at the consultancy VISSCH+STAM.
