How have international contemporary artists been inspired by the classics of European art? And why is it these works, in particular, that have become known around the world? Inspiration – Iconic Works presents art that draws inspiration from iconic masterpieces, created by today’s contemporary artists. Book a guided tour for your group or art association and crak the code of art!

Get aquainted with works by artists such as Marina Abramović, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Nancy Fouts, Mark Karasick, Sara Masüger, Kiki Smith and Yinka Shonibare. A selection of works from Nationalmuseum's vast collections are displayed in dialogue with the contemporary art objects.

Tour duration: 60 minutes

Number of participants; No more than 25/group

Due to security reasons, and to ensure that you have the best possible experience on the tour, this number may not be exceeded. If the group is larger when it arrives at the museum, the excess members may not participate in the tour.

Bookable times: You can book a tour from 11:30 on days on which the museum is open. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, the last bookable time is 15:30. The last bookable times are 19:30 on Thursdays and 17:30 on Fridays. The museum is closed on Mondays.

Tour fees

  • Weekdays, 11:30–15:30
    Tours in Swedish: 2 500 kr + 120 kr/person
    Tours in languages other than Swedish: 3 000 +120 kr/person
  • Thursdays and Fridays, from 16:00, and weekends
    Tours in Swedish: 3 500 kr + 120 kr/person
    Tours in languages in other than Swedish: 4 000 +120 kr/person

Payment: With bank card or Swish at the cashier ,or by invoice after the tour is made.

Cancellations and changes

Please note that cancellations and changes regarding your reservation must be made in good time. Cancellations which are made closer than 3 weeks before your visiting date will be charged with the full amount.

Booked tour=go ahead of the line

Participants of a booked group tour are prioritised if a queue has formed. Take the entrance to the right and present your booking confirmation to the stationed host or security guard.
