Welcome to the autumn edition of Jazz in the grand staircase – a concert series where the presence of jazz meets the grandeur of the Nationalmuseum’s architecture. On a number of Thursday evenings, the museum’s staircase is filled with live music, close to the audience and at the very heart of the space.
The series presents current musicians and ensembles from Stockholm’s jazz scene, with a programme that moves between the lyrical and the improvised. It offers room for both established names and new voices, in a format that encourages attentive listening, curiosity, and unexpected musical encounters.

Thursday 10 September
Linnea Jonsson trio
With her unmistakable sound, trumpeter and composer Linnea Jonsson has established herself as one of Sweden’s most expressive voices. Since the release of her debut album in 2022, she has performed with several of Sweden’s renowned artists and big bands, and has received accolades including the J:son Scholarship, whose citation described her as having “a tone capable of making mountain ranges bloom.”
She now returns with her second album, Hive Mind—a quietly powerful collective statement centered on the idea of reality as an interdependent web of relationships. Echoes of ECM, Nordic lyricism, and New York energy are woven together into something entirely her own.
