The art library is one of Scandinavia's largest specialist libraries focusing on art, photography and design. It is open to staff and researchers at Nationalmuseum and Moderna Museet as well as the general public.
The library reflects the art collections and activities of Nationalmuseum and Moderna Museet. It primarily covers the period from the Renaissance to the present day. A large part of the library’s collection comprises of artist monographs, catalogues of art collections, and auction and exhibition catalogues. We also have a large collection of press clippings.

You are welcome to visit the library without making an appointment, but we still recommend contacting us in advance. This is because a large part of the library's collection is in storage, and items are only sent from the stocks to the library twice a week (on Tuesdays and Thursdays). To make sure the items you're interested in are available when you visit, make your request in advance.
