Here is some practical information that may be helpful when you plan to visit the museum.
WiFi
The museum has free WiFi. Our network is called 'Nationalmuseum', simply click to sign in to it.

For safety reasons, please note:
- Bags larger than 40x38x36 cm are not allowed into the museum.
- You are welcome to bring smaller bags or backpacks (max. 40x38x36 cm) into the museum and exhibitions. Please note that backpacks must be held in your hand.
- Umbrellas, walking poles, and ice grips are not allowed into the exhibitions.
- Unattended bags and other items will be taken care of immediately.
Lockers
- There are lockers on the lower ground floor.
- Most lockers measure 40x38x36 cm; a small number measure 40x38x47 cm.
- Struggling to reopen your locker? Please speak to a member of staff.
- Note that lockers may be opened by museum staff for security reasons.
- Nationalmuseum accepts no responsibility for any items placed in its lockers.
Eat and drink
Our restaurant is situated on the ground floor. Lunch is served here Tuesday to Sunday. Simply order at the counter; your food will be served at your table.
There is also a picnic room on the lower ground floor. Note that booked student groups get priority seating.
Please be careful
Please be extra careful around the art in the museum, to help ensure future generations will still get to experience these treasures.
You can easily bump into the artworks on display, especially when the exhibition is crowded. For this reason, you are not allowed to bring bulky items like backpacks, large bags and umbrellas into the exhibitions. To avoid spills, food and drinks are not allowed in either.
Why am I not allowed to touch the art?
Even if you can’t see or feel it, your hands are always a little sticky, because salt and grease naturally form on our bodies. When we touch a work of art, our fingers leave marks, which causes serious damage. For this reason, you are not allowed to touch the art and design at Nationalmuseum, not even gently.
No running
Space in our galleries is limited. We kindly ask visitors wanting to run off steam to slow down. Children may need a hand to hold.
Photograpy and filming
You are welcome to take pictures during your visit, provided you do not use a selfie stick, tripod, or flash. Please be careful when taking selfies, so you don’t collide with anything fragile in the galleries.

The same map can be found in our app and on large digital screens in the entrance hall. Paper maps are available in the entrance hall.
There is a tactile map in the lobby, to the right just after the steps.
Accessibility
Every floor is serviced by lifts that can accommodate wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
We will be happy to lend you a wheeled walking frame or wheelchair to make your visit easier. Please ask one of our staff on the ground floor.

Pets
No pets are allowed into the museum, except for guide dogs and assistance dogs.
Prams and pushchairs
You are welcome to walk around the museum with a pram or pushchair.
If you do not want to bring your pram or pushchair into the exhibitions, there is room to park it outside the children’s exhibition Villa Curiosa on the ground floor. Note that this space is primarily reserved for those visiting Villa Curiosa. For safety reasons, you may not store any belongings in/around prams parked here.
We ask that you do not bring prams and pushchairs that you have used outdoors into Villa Curiosa, as they bring in dirt. Instead, you can borrow a pushchair at the museum; simply present an ID.
Unattended prams or pushchairs may be taken care of by our staff.
Changing rooms
There are changing tables in the accessible toilets on each floor.
