The Archives include the public records of the Museum and the Artists Archives.
The Archive temporarily closed until further notice
Due to the situation with the new coronavirus Nationalmuseum has decided to temporarily close all its premises until further notice. You can still reach the archive by e-mail to: email@example.com.
The public records of the Museum (Myndighetsarkivet)
The public records contain the continuous records of the Museum’s operations from 1866 to the current period. There are three record groups: Nationalmuseum Sections (NM/AVD) and Administrative Body (NM/CK, NM/FE).
"The Artists Archives" (Enskilda arkiv)
The Artists Archives has been accumulated over the years by museum staff and through acquisitions, gifts and donations. The holdings consists of documentation about artists, individual artworks and buildings. It consists of both correspondence and research work by art historians and museum staff. The Artists Archives are divided into four collections: Biografica, Correspondence Collections (Brevarkiv) Topographical Collection Topografica) and Private Archives (Enskilda arkiv).

The art library’s and the archives’ collections of literature, magazines, letters, news clips, records and much more contain many exiting treasures. Check out a small selection.
Visiting the archives
You can visit the archives during the opening hours of the library: Tuesday - Thursday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
