Join us on a journey through the world of art – from the romantic dream of grandeur to contemporary design and sustainability issues. The museum guide highlights works that depict emotions, social change and bold visions. Come along on a journey where history meets the future!
We begin in the Romantic period of the 19th century, a time when artists sought the magnificent in nature and the heartfelt in human emotions. When industrialisation took off, everything changed. In the field of design, different countries began to try to outshine each other through form, expression, techniques and materials. Contradictions arose between tradition and modernity.
Anders Zorn and Carl Larsson portrayed a new ideal: light, movement and the home as a place of beauty. Through works of art and design objects, we follow the changes in society during the 20th century up to the present day. Here you will find Re-make, clothes and objects created from recycled materials, where creativity meets sustainability. It is a story of how art and design not only reflect their time, but also point to the future.
