About the event
On two consecutive Thursdays, Nationalmuseum is visited by Tusen Tungor. Expect resonant kulning calls and powerful chorales, lively interpretations of Renaissance polyphony, modern tones filled with mysticism, and a touch of national romanticism—something like an embodiment of the museum itself. Get ready for what Tusen Tungor does best: a bit of old, a bit of new, and a generous dose of explosive choral singing that moves through time and space. A thousand tongues before us, a thousand tongues after.
About Tusen Tungor
Tusen Tungor is a treble choir based in Stockholm, consisting of 30 singers. Their repertoire spans Renaissance polyphony, folk chorales, and contemporary musical language, often in close collaboration with the composers themselves. The choir was formed in spring 2024 based on an observed need: to bring together experienced vocalists who are not necessarily classically trained but who want to make music with like-minded people in an open, inclusive environment with high artistic ambition. The choir frequently works across artistic disciplines with performative elements and challenges traditional choral norms—for example through choices of attire, concert venues, and collaborations. Thanks to the singers’ diverse musical backgrounds, the choir creates a distinctive sound and a strong sensitivity to choral music as an art form.
The choir’s founder and artistic director is Linnea Landström, a trained choral conductor and composer. The concerts at Nationalmuseum are led by vocalists Elin Oskarsson and Siri Anna Flensburg, both members of Tusen Tungor with extensive experience and expertise in both classical and folk repertoire.
