About the event
How can industrial processes be made more humane and ecologically sustainable? For decades, Dutch designer Hella Jongerius has challenged the boundaries between craft and industry. Her design practice is based on extensive studies of colour, form, materials, and textures – something that was particularly evident in her exhibition Breathing Colour at the Nationalmuseum in 2019. On 14 March 2026, a major retrospective exhibition of Jongerius’s work will open at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein.
Alice Rawsthorn is a highly respected author who has written, among other books, Design Emergency: Building a Better Future (2022), Design as an Attitude (2018), and Hello World: Where Design Meets Life (2013). Together with Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator of Architecture and Design at MoMA in New York, Rawsthorn hosts the podcast Design Emergency, in which they discuss how designers can contribute to positive change.
