About the theme day
Space By: STHLMFW is a platform within Stockholm Fashion Week that brings together cultural pioneers, emerging designers, and innovative voices in fashion and design. The platform serves both as a stage and a meeting place where ideas can be presented, tested, and developed in collaboration with others.
This year, Space By: STHLMFW brings together Nationalmuseum, Axfoundation, and Science Park Borås to jointly explore the theme “Built Different.”
“Built Different” focuses on people, materials, and practices that do not follow established structures, but instead highlight what is often overlooked, left behind, or still in motion. As a visitor to the themed event, you will have the opportunity to move through an otherwise invisible chain – from local fibers and resource awareness to design, production, and public experiences.

Program
Pop-up-exhibition: Kevin Mukuri
11:00–20:00, in The Sculpture Courtyard, ground floor
Kevin Mukuri works at the intersection of fashion and material research. During Stockholm Fashion Week he presents a selection of garments in The Sculpture Couryard at Nationalmuseum. The garments are made with next-generation materials developed in The Nordics, the pieces are the result of a close collaboration with Axfoundation exploring new and more responsible ways of making fashion. An exhibition for anyone curious about where fashion is heading.
Pop-up exhibition: Future Materials
11:00–20:00, in The Sculpture Courtyard, ground floor
Reeds, oyster shells, and mushroom mycelium are some of the materials of the future. In the exhibition Future Materials, Axfoundation, together with designers and creators, showcases how bio-based materials and waste streams can be transformed into the design of tomorrow. Among the exhibitors is Kristian Eddé, founded by Daniel Ankarstrand, which creates exclusive accessories from salmon leather – a by-product of the food industry transformed into a soft and durable material.
Pop-up exhibition: Värmeverket RE:WORK CAMP
17:00–20:00, in The South Courtyard, ground floor
Students from RE:WORK CAMP present this year's works created in response to Nationalmuseum's ongoing exhibition Badin – Beyond Surface and Mask. Questions of body, representation and history meet contemporary perspectives on fashion and cultural expression.

Panel talk: Built Different
15:00–16:00, in The South Courtyard, ground floor, in Swedish
Materials are changing. So is the way we create, consume and think about what we wear. Built Different brings together voices from politics, research, design and industry to discuss biobased materials, circular systems and what next-generation design thinking can actually look like.
Participants:
Alice Bah Kuhnke, Hanna Hobohm Skoog (Axfoundation), Cilla Robach (Nationalmuseum), Ellen Flybäck (Science Park Borås), Felix Von Bahder (Deadwood).

Multidisciplinary designer Harris Elliott (UK) joins author David Hellqvist for a conversation about craftsmanship, cultural identity and building a practice without compromise. Moving between fashion, music and object-making, they explore how personal history, material knowledge and lived experience can shape a creative language that resists sameness and carries its own sense of place.

Students from RE:WORK CAMP give a series of short talks about their works, processes and ideas around the future of fashion and material experimentation.

Step in front of the mirror and get a reflection back – not of how you look, but of what your clothes say about you. AI – The Mirror is an interactive installation by Science Park Borås that connects style, identity and consumption in an unexpected way.
Workhsop: Fluffy Encounters. Come and try wet felting with wool!
17:00–20:00, in Studio 1, ground floor
